Voxengo Elephant
Voxengo Elephant is a mastering limiter plug-in. The most remarkable feature of this brickwall limiter is its ultimate transparency. Unlike many existing limiters, it does not adjust the dynamic structure of the processed audio material, but instead brings sound limiting and loudness maximization without any audible "pumping" effects.
With the release of version 2.0, Elephant became a highly competitive mastering product. It features a comprehensive set of level metering tools and a variety of limiter algorithms. Elephant's built-in linear-phase oversampling is a new standard in peak limiting and loudness maximization. Elephant, also featuring a high-quality bit-depth converter with an optional noise-shaping, allows you to finish your music and audio productions with a spark.

What's New
Version 2.7, 30-jan-2008
Minor fixes.
Version 2.6, 08-aug-2007
Access violation error on systems with >2GB memory solved.
Version 2.5, 16-jan-2006
- RMS/PeakRMS metering mode selection now includes K-20, K-14 and K-12 systems.
- Metering mode selection is now local instead of global.
- Butterworth filter performance fixed (previously it was not working as it should work).
Version 2.4, 10-jun-2005
Issue with peaks going over 0 dB fixed. This issue previously manifested itself when stereo linking was set inbetween 0% and 100%.
Version 2.3, 14-mar-2005
- New EL-3 limiter mode implemented.
- Factory presets redesigned.
- Stereo linking now has intermediate states.
Version 2.2, 05-dec-2004
Minor issues fixed, no new functionality.
Version 2.1, 12-jul-2004
- New AIGC-3 and AIGC-4 modes implemented. They use the same approach as the original AIGC modes 1 and 2, but use limiter technology used in mode EL-2 thus these modes deliver brickwall limiter performance also.
- Gain reduction meter ballistics global option added.
Version 2.0, 14-jun-2004
- Complete rewrite of the user interface and program internals. This newer version does not support previous version's presets and so its DLL is named VoxengoElephant2.DLL allowing you to use previous version's DLLs, too, thus simplifying migration. Also Normal and High Quality DLL version differences became obsolete.
- Minor issues fixed.
- FXP/FXB preset manager implemented.
- DC filter type selector added.
- Noise-shaped dithering implemented.
- Peak RMS and clip count statistics implemented.
- A new "EL-2" limiting mode implemented. This mode features a true brickwall limiting performance.
- Stereo linking now became a switch, not a mode.
- Oversampling switch added. Now you can enable up to 4x oversampling.
Version 1.3, 07-sep-2003
- Gain reduction counter bug fixed. This bug previously appeared with AIGC mode enabled.
- New "Clip" limiting mode implemented. This mode allows to get the maximal punch, however it can sound harsh at times.
Version 1.2, 06-aug-2003
- "A-to-B" comparison and reset buttons added.
- A new Automatic In Gain Control (AIGC) mode implemented. This mode allows to exclude excessive unmusical distortion during loudness maximization. Now instead of only "Linked"/"Unlinked" modes you have a choice of two AIGC modes, both available in linked and unlinked variants.
- "Off" option for the "Bits" now works as a real "off" option.
Version 1.1, 17-jun-2003
- "Speed" pop-up list now shows all options at once.
- "Bits" now have "Off" option. This is not really an "off" mode since it equals to 30 bits.
- In Gain and Out Gain controls can be synchronized with the "Shift" and "Alt" keys now.
- Added "VoxengoElephantHQ.dll" High Quality version of the Elephant. This version performs additional 3x linear-phase oversampling which delivers even better quality limiting especially with high input gains.
- Added "Linking" switch. When channels are linked, Elephant preserves stereo field. This is a preferred operation mode, however overall reached gain might be lower than with the linking disabled.
- Added "RShape" (release shape) control. This control is meant to be used on the last stage of tuning to achieve additional clarity and to decrease the overall distortion.
- Added the built-in DC (high-pass) filter for removal of excessive low-frequency content.
- Output RMS counter added.
- Factory presets added.
Version 1.0, 29-apr-2003
Official release.
Version 1.0h, 28-apr-2003
Beta release.
"Shape" control added.
Version 1.0g, 27-apr-2003
Beta release.
"Speed" control added.
Version 1.0b, 25-apr-2003
Beta release.
- Gain reduction VU meters added.
- Limiting algorithm improved.
- Help file added.
