Just a few thoughts on the next version of Lampthruster - I may have mentioned some of this elsewhere. Perhaps others might want to chime in with their ideas:
1. Add an additional Thrs (over thrust) control. I suppose the question might be, "Well if two... why not three?". Either way, I'd like to see one more such control at least: think of using it on vocals for both adding subtle, focused color to the mids, and then simultaneously using it for a special presence boost in the high end (e.g. 8-10K). OTOH: Perhaps having a thrust control for each of the peaking filters would be cool, too.
2. Update harmonic generation: Aleksey has mentioned this before - the idea is to somehow draw upon lessons learned from, say, Marquis or Warmifier and update the harmonic generation/over-thrust content so it could be applied even more aggressively without sounding harsh, or like digital clipping, etc. (Note: I understand Warmifier works in a very different way - just trying to explain the concept.)
3. Oversampling: My understanding is Lampthruster already does 2x (on all the time), so perhaps we go to 4x and include the Voxengo quality switch (High/Normal/Auto) for CPU conservation.
4. High-Shelf/High-End: I don't know how possible this is/is not, but I'd love to see all lessons learned around high-shelf boosting (e.g. HarmoniEQ) applied to Lampthruster so it could sound every bit as smooth north of, say, 14K as any other EQ.
OTHER IDEAS:
5. HPF - I think the general idea behind Lampthruster is to go for a vintage/analog vibe and, in a sense, keep the plug simple. I understand that, but HPF is so useful... perhaps add one to Lampthruster? I know Voxengo is working on a dedicated HP/LP plugin with a new approach for transparency... perhaps Lampthruster incorporates just the HPF?
6. Dynamic frequency spectrum display (what else do you call this?) - I'm just talking about the option to have a GlissEQ/SPAN type visual monitoring. I'm sure there's an argument against this (e.g. it isn't "Vintage"), but my preference would be to just add it as an option, nonetheless.
