Forums  »  Products  »  Lampthruster  »  Possible bug: Thumps/clicks when pressing in Start in host

I've been experiencing low freq thumps/and sometimes clicks in FLstudio and Reaper upon pressing Play in the host.  These made it rendered projects at the very begining of the song (so I had been padding the songs with a bar or two)

I just narrowed it down to Lampthruster (I think)

Try this:

Install reaper.
Create an empty track, and pop LT on the track as an active effect.
Press play.  Silence (as expected).
Now, add some audio to the track, but with say 30 seconds space in front of it.
Rewind to start, press play.  you shoud hear an artifact (thump or click)
This should happen everytime you press play within the empty section (sound will be masked in the audio section with louder material)
Swtich lampthruster off and it goes away.

This 'thump' at the very start of playback is an inherent element of Lampthruster - it appeared on the design stage of Lampthruster, and it is almost impossible for me to remove it (it is caused by 'first cycle' transients - this is pretty the same as 'thump' you hear when you power your speakers).  However, as far as I know it does not cause any trouble.

well -

it's been causing me some trouble - including sonar throwing up "General Error" when it's trying to autosave.

it's not a major bug, and it doesn't seem to cause anything to crash - but it'd be nice to have some kind of soft on/off behaviour - just for this plug.

Kind regards

Dave Rich

Could you elaborate more on that 'general error' ?  Is it definitely caused by Lampthruster?

im not 100% sure but it seems to be.

sonar tries to save, lampthruster thumps,- then i get a message saying "General Error"

I can then save as normal.

I've got melodyne running in the same project so there's quite a few variables however - but I've not seen this message before and lampthruster is the only thing which I can remember being different - other than I'm running at 88.2

Kind regards

OK.  Which version of Sonar do you use?  Also, could you try replicating this problem in a simple project, maybe based on Sonar's demo project? (I'm not meaning to take your time).

I'm using sonar 5.2

I'll try and do a little testing during the week.

Kind regards

Dave Rich

Thank you very much!
