LF-Max for mastering?

Rick Snoman says that we should avoid using any "bass-specific maximizers" such as Waves Maxx Bass while mastering.  But does LF-max work by another way than MaxxBass, and can it be used for mastering?

I think LF-Max is pretty OK to be used during mastering.  You do not have to use distortion part of LF-Max - you may just use its sub-harmonic synthesizer.  As far as I know Maxx Bass indeed adds distortion only, so this is not always suitable for mastering.

Thanks!
