I have ceq, elephant and sonic finalyzer. for mastering what order should I use typically with wavelab?  Also any quick setup tips would be apprecitaed. basic use and tips.

Thanks!

Read the Help texts carefully for the best general tips for getting started.  As far as plug-in order for mastering, the general suggestion is: 1.  Sonic Finalizer 2.  CurveEQ and 3.  Elephant, most likely in the post fader section.  When starting out, go with that order and fool around with the presets, to get a feel for the sounds.  You may find in some cases that you need to eq before compressing, but try the suggested order first.  Good luck.

EQ first, sonic finalizer second, elephant last.  Then place on your favorite dither (if necassary).  Also if you add any amount of reverb or ambience, place that after the EQ.

There is no "standard" order.  If the order I listed does not work, change it around!  Sometimes it's necassary to EQ after elephant (only cuts!!!), or sonicfinalizer before EQ etc...  But you want to make sure Elephant is last, or anything after elephant is a downward change, no boosts or gain changes other than DOWN.

It's probabaly best not to master yourself of course, but that's a whole nother story. you can email me wife at wendy@saturn9studios.com as she is a proffesional ME and could gladly offer you services and give tips if necassary.  I myself tend to stick with the recording/mixing part... but you can email me too: robert@saturn9studios.com

I have been using that order eq,finalize, elephant.  It works well.  I will use a new set of ears to master a finished product but for test tracks I like to sweeten em up a bit before the client hears them.  I use wavelab and have noticed that heavy processing ie 3 curve eqs and a sonic finalizer, will crash my system.  I have also had it happen with only elephant using a +6 db boost.  It only occurs when I render the clip or montage. have you seen this?
