I really dont need the higher resolution for mastering (makes not much sense to to that). i need it for room eq´ing and some other special tasks.

btw, thanks for the new demo, i just tried reseting to 50 bands, then learn the source then the destination, but if i have learned the destination and press stop, it bring me up the correction curve, but with 30 bands only again, even it was showing 50 bands until the end of the destination learn process.

Regards.

Mastermind, that's ok, since SpectruMatch still uses 30 points.  50 bands (and 60 bands if there will be one) are for freehand mode.

As for simplification, I don't see how I can implement it currently.  When I have more info on this, I'll implement it for sure.

For now, I'll try to implement undo/redo and 60 point SpectruMatch (will try to do it selectable).

Infinite peak hold is planned to be added in the future.  However, I still don't have an idea how it can be useful.

I also have on my 'todo' list the 'photo' feature.  Using this feature one could 'photograph' the currently displayed spectrum image and use it later as as substractor from the current spectrum, this way it will be possible to make a match manually.

what an cool idea. great :)

Hi Aleksey,

A lot of good news :)

The Infinite Peak Hold, can help to detect short unwanted frequency peaks in a master,

or on a individual track, without having to watch the analyzer all the time.

Also you can compare the peak frequency response, of mastered tracks,

after running the whole songs through the analyzer.

Hi Aleksey,

Curve Eq is fast becoming the best eq plug I've ever used.  With the additions you will be implementing it will be top of the line.  I used the

freehand mode on a tough mix over the weekend and was blown away by

how easy it was to use.  I have a thought on a possible improvement.

Could a zoom function be added to the analyzer to really fine tune a smaller bandwidth.  I know the spectrum can be viewed in three ranges

as of now.  I ran into intermodulation distortion in a mix I was working on

and could have used a fine zoom function.  Maybe the user could define

a view range, or you could add a zoom in/ zoom out button with a slide

knob to change the frequency band as needed.

Anyway just a thought.  Thanks for your hard work.  It's unparalleled.

Hoot

Hoot, I've had this 'zoom in/out' idea before.  I believe I can implement it, but I will left this feature for one of the future versions.  Maybe 1.9 or 2.0.

Hi Aleksey,

I would use the zoom in/zoom out feature whenever it is ready.

On Cool Edit Pro 2.1 I am beginning to use a feature that will take my mix, allow me to specify split frequency points so I can now have up to 8 new wave files generated automatically from my original mix. (There's a discussion on how to set the fir size right now on their forum)

I'll then place them in a mixer as individual tracks and insert a CurveEQ on each wave.  Track 1 would contain 0-40Hz, Track 2 40-120Hz, Track 3 120-400Hz...and so on.

I could effectively do an EQ copy using 8 inserted Curve EQs x 32 points per CurveEQ for a max of 256 points per mixdown.  The zoom in feature would allow me to focus the points where they're needed for higher resolution without wasting them.

Why am I splitting a mix into 8 files ?  The mix is in bad need of repair, it can't be remixed, I want to EQ morph the EQ using more points and use different color compressors on some of the bands (like Sonic Finalizer on the lows, Elephant in the middle, and a few others).

I think there are other vendors that have split freq capability also but CEP seems to be slightly more automated as it names tracks with the freq range.

Thank you,

kylen

ed.  21JUN2003 I'm afraid I'm probably adding to the noise here by trying to get you to include a learning exercise into your product so forget what I said about needing more spectrumatch points.  I don't now.

I am splitting files that I master into 3 (bass mids hi) and raising CurveEQ eq points to push the spectrum into the correct spot as viewed on the masterbus CurveEQ (using it as a spectrum analyzer).  I also use Ozone2 as a spectrum analyzer for this purpose because it will display the spectrum of my reference material and I can easily push the EQ into that shape.  So if anything what I would want is for CurveEQ to be able to display a spectrum it has listened to but that request doesn't belong in this thread...

...carry on

You will definit. get into big phase and impulse problems when splitting your track into different frequency bands then process each band with something else and mix it together again.

Hi Mastermind,

I was expecting some phase trouble too, none yet but I'll keep my ears peeled.  I'm not sure what impulse trouble you're expecting, I'm not sure what you mean.  In a spare moment if you can refer to what it sounds like I look out for that also!

Thanks for the tip,

kylen

ed. the frequency band splitter in Cool Edit Pro is discussed on one of their forums, skip my ramblings but there's a couple of math guys in there that chew on fir filters and the like pretty well and ran some tests.  They seem pretty satisfied there aren't any problems, I don't hear any yet: http://forums.syntrillium.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=5928

ed.  Correction: If I use Gear on some tracks then I hear phase problems as would be expected, using the EQ on all tracks without gear doesn't give me any trouble.
