and it's too much to be able to tell what it really does

How to use this
I suggest you to try presets. I can't really say they do nothing. They can easily add punchy lows and snappy mids. Of course, it is a generally complex plug-in, because you need to tune two stages: detection stage and equalizing stage.
Tweaking is the key to learn this plugin
