Forums     Plugins     r8brain PRO AIF files not supported?!?

Aleksey.

Just had the shock of my life - 2 32 bit FP 96KHz AIF files, created using Nuendo with markers inserted in WaveLab, and tried to SRC down to 16/44.1 ready for CD and got Error 001 - file type not supported.

Is there a problem with AIF files in the current release?

Not spotted this before though.  It's odd.

Any thoughts?

AFAIK AIFF does not support floating-point files.  Only fixed-point ones.  Probably Nuendo creates non-standard files.

If you can, please send me a short AIF file to info@voxengo.com so that I can check it out.

Now that is interesting.

It also explains a couple of things that had been bothering me about other things too.

Like why I never spotted this before on a 24/96 AIFF file.

And why my AIFF files still seem to have a weird 2Gb internal limit in Nuendo.

You can open the file, export the file, but just try running an internal offline process on a file larger than 2Gb.

You cannot do it, it throws an error telling me "Insufficient HD space".

I will lop off a chunk for you to analyze - where do I send it to?

BTW, there is a problem with the current r8brain PRO - it cannot work with files above 2GB either.  But this will be fixed with the next release.
